ABOUT US - MUIR OPTOMETRISTS

Muir Optometrists have been taking care of Garden Router's eyes since 1986 under the expert leadership of founder Andy Muir. Andy qualified with Dip. Optom. F.O.A. (SA), M.C.Optom. (UK) and C.A.S. (Boston).

To help us provide the kind of personalised care that is our ethos, Andy has appointed a team of qualified optometrists supported by a most dedicated support team (per photo above: Wilson Sitimela, Karen Coetzee, Alison Muir, Andy Muir, Susan Schutte, Magdalena Bondt, Rosalien Williams & Johan Van Der Meer). As can be seen from our generous guarantees & terms, we aim to offer the best possible treatment at the best value for money possible... and we'll never skimp on quality.

Muir Optometrists is patient-centric, community-minded and environmentally sensitive, which means like-minded patients tend to resonate well with us. We've learnt that building a relationship with a patient allows us to understand clients' needs better than anyone else - priceless!

ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE

Andy Muir founded Muir Optometrists in 1986 and has led it through its growth with professionalism and sensitivity to patients and the community.

Andy Muir is well known in the Knysna community through his exploits in Rotary, Golf, Tennis and previously with the formation of Oakhill School in Knysna. He offers Rotary vision screening for indigents when possible (using recycled frames for the needy) and he understands the unique needs of sports persons.

When you walk into Muir Optometrists' Reception, you will immediately sense the care and patient-centric approach that sets us apart.

Muir Optometrists' ethos of patient-centric, sensitive care is cultivated in all staff members. Our quality care spills over into environmental awareness meaning all obsolete plastic optical products, like frames, lenses and disposable contact lenses are recycled where possible, or disposed of responsibly.

At Muir Optometrists Knysna we really care about each patient and love catching up when you visit us for your eye check-up.

Being community focused is at the heart of Muir Optometrists. Amanda Vlok was our very first patient in 1986; at 93 years old, she was still a valued patient and she cut the ribbon and eloquently declared our new premises open decades later! Even contractors and workers enjoyed coffee & biscuits at the opening.

Member of the College of Optometrists (UK) and in SA - your eye care is in Andy Muir's capable hands!
"After getting rushed service and faulty lenses from a competing chain that was running a special, I sheepishly returned to Muir Optometrists. Thank you for welcoming me as warmly as ever and taking my needs seriously until my new spectacles were perfect."
